Widows Project, Dondo
The Widows Project in Dondo is run by Mozambican Joaquim Jaime and focuses specifically on feeding widows and repairing their houses.
In November 2009 it was realised that with the rainy season approaching rapidly the widows houses would not stand up to the torrential rains. Anazao funded the repair and restoration of 4 widows houses which were without adequate roof covering and the floors/walls were in a poor state of repair. The pictures below show two of the houses.

intro.
The average life expectancy in Mozambique is 41 years with many adults dying from AIDS, Malaria, Cholera and other diseases. Many of the widows supported by this project have lost not only their husbands but also children to AIDS (and other diseases) as a result they have been left alone to care for their remaining children, and also their grandchildren. Many are elderly themselves, suffer from visual impairment and other disabilities and are unable to work in the fields to support themselves and their families.
